About MSLS XIX 2025

Executive Summary of
The Malaysian Student Leaders' Summit XIX 2025

The Malaysian Student Leaders’ Summit (MSLS) is one of United Kingdom and Eire Council for Malaysian Students (UKEC)’s longest-standing flagship event, bringing together over 700 Malaysian student leaders globally. Celebrating its 19th edition, MSLS XIX 2025 will challenge students to reflect critically on Malaysia’s democratic fragility and leadership futures under the theme “Di Senja Demokrasi: Malaysia’s Critical Juncture.”

The theme for MSLS XIX 2025 is Di Senja Demokrasi: Malaysia's Critical Juncture. This year, we aim to explore ideas of navigating the complexities and potential fragility of Malaysia's democratic landscape. A pause at the edge of day where the light begins to fade, prompting us to consider the shadows that lengthen, the stars that emerge in the darkness into the constellations of the night, before awakening into a new dawn.

At this pivotal moment, we seek to critically examine the challenges and opportunities facing our institutions, public discourse, and civic engagement, particularly concerning accountability, the balance of power, and the consistent application of moral principles in the pursuit of a holistic society in this ever-evolving 21st century.

By walking through the foundations of Malaysia’s democratic system, we hope to inspire critical thought among student leaders, encourage them to scrutinise where institutions fall short, interrogate public narratives that obscure civil liberties, and most importantly, reflect on their role as future leaders of the nation.

True to its founding vision, this year’s MSLS serves to nurture a generation of student leaders who are intellectually rigorous with the discernment to lead with integrity, grounded in a principled love for Malaysia.
